not only are there pics of Bob smoking in the early days but have you ever seen that nightfoods CD? There's a pic on the back of this cd ( can't find an example ) that shows him smoking a cig

also heard an interview probably less than a couple of years ago where he talks about how hard it is to quit.

Wow I find this so surprising given the whole health kick and especially harassing other people about smoking ... betcha he was doing that only during periods that he'd quit!

well if you don't know it's a helluva hard habit to quit. Look at Keith Richards - gave up the Heroin ( or so I assume )but never could put down the smokes. Doesn't mean you still can't eat right and exercise does it? ( I'm applying that one to Weir not Keith )

Oh, believe me, I do know. I've been riding that merry-go-round for the last four or five years. I was just surprised because it goes against his whole "I'm a macrobiotic health freak" trip - but I wasn't judging him, I was just very, very surprised. Peace.

Hey guys, Fenar esp, I was gonna jump in for the exact same reason, and am very surprised at the outcome (ie, that he is a smoker). I thought that he quit in the early days around the time they fired hin--har, but seriously--when he went on the diet and then in the 70s with the running, etc., etc., etc.

But, esp because of knowing of how he talked about other band members...I mean, being concerned is one thing, but if were actually a smoker--I have NEVER known one that said things like that to OTHER smokers.

Interesting...thanks for the info, J et al.

well maybe he's a social smoker? As impossible as that is to believe I've actually known some.
